You have chosen Prague. You can already picture the bridge, the rooftops and a photograph you will want to frame. But there is one decision that can change the experience more than your outfit: when should you take your photos?

For a Charles Bridge photoshoot, our starting recommendation is an early session if fewer passers-by matter most. Choose a later session if a relaxed start, time to get ready or your family's routine matters more. Neither option guarantees an empty location or golden sunshine. The best choice fits both the photographs you want and the trip you actually have planned.

Sunrise or sunset: which suits your trip?

Iconic views with fewer people around: An early-morning session

Time for breakfast, hair and makeup: A late-afternoon session

Photos with young children: Their happiest part of the day

A short visit with a fixed itinerary: Share your available windows before choosing a time

Natural portraits rather than a checklist of landmarks: A compact route that works with the light that day

Treat these as planning recommendations, not promises about the weather or crowds.

Why consider an early Charles Bridge photoshoot?

Early morning is worth considering when the bridge itself is central to your plans. Local travel hosts also recommend visiting before the city gets busy. That gives you a sensible starting point for planning, although other visitors and photographers may have the same idea. Taste of Prague's early-morning guide

The trade-off is practical: you need to be ready early. Allow time to leave your accommodation, reach the agreed meeting point and settle in. Do not choose a sunrise session just because it sounds romantic if it will leave you tired after a late flight.

Ask for a start time matched to your travel date. “Sunrise” is not a fixed appointment time throughout the year, and buildings can affect when direct light reaches a particular street.

A late-afternoon photoshoot can fit more comfortably around a holiday. You have time to get ready, and the session can become part of an evening out.

The compromise is that popular places may still be busy. Instead of expecting an empty bridge, plan for photographs that work within the city: a closer portrait, a quieter angle or a different background nearby. A good session does not need every frame to include a famous landmark.

For families, comfort should come before a particular quality of light. A child who is rested and interested in exploring gives you more possibilities than a tired child brought out at an inconvenient hour. Share nap times, walking limits and any accessibility needs when you enquire.

Choose one area instead of racing across Prague

A useful route to discuss is Charles Bridge and nearby Kampa. Prague City Tourism describes the bridge's connection to Kampa, making the area a natural starting point for planning a session with different surroundings. Charles Bridge visitor information

Rather than trying to include the bridge, Old Town and Prague Castle in one short session, choose the backdrop you care about most and build around it. Walking, changing outfits and finding a comfortable position all take time. Leaving room to pause often makes the experience feel less like a sightseeing deadline.

This is a route idea, not a fixed itinerary. Agree on the meeting point and walking distance in advance; steps and uneven surfaces can matter if you have a pushchair or limited mobility.

Choose clothes you can move in and would enjoy seeing in a photograph years from now. A useful test is to sit down, walk and lift your arms in the outfit before packing it.

Bring comfortable shoes for walking between spots, even if you change for photographs.

Coordinate colours with your partner rather than feeling you must dress identically.

Keep bags light so you do not spend the session moving luggage out of the frame.

Bring a layer suitable for the forecast, especially for an early start.

There is no need to buy a new wardrobe. Feeling comfortable is a better starting point than wearing something that needs constant adjustment.

Cloud cover does not automatically mean poor portraits. It can soften direct sunlight, while the city still provides the setting. Rain is a separate practical question: comfort, slippery surfaces and keeping equipment dry all need consideration.

Before booking, ask how weather changes are handled and what alternatives are available for your dates. Do not assume that moving to a café, garden or indoor venue is automatically possible. Access, opening hours and permission need to be checked for the location you choose.

Questions to answer before sending an inquiry

No prior experience is needed to enquire. If being photographed makes you nervous, mention it and describe whether you prefer relaxed, playful or more composed portraits. You can browse our photography gallery to find examples of the mood you like.

Can we ask for a completely empty Charles Bridge?

You can tell us that avoiding crowds is a priority, but a public place cannot be promised exclusively for your session. Keep the plan flexible.

Include your travel dates, who will be photographed, your preferred time of day and any must-have location. If your schedule is flexible, say so: a date range is useful even before you have chosen an exact day.

Start with the experience you want: a quiet early walk, portraits before dinner or a family session that fits your day. Then choose a package and share your available dates.

Explore our Prague photoshoot packages, or ask about availability. Sending an inquiry does not require payment. Your session is only booked once we confirm it with you.

Choose the right time for your Prague photoshoot, plan around crowds and prepare for a relaxed session around Charles Bridge and Kampa.

Thanks to this amazing place, you can enjoy vegan versions of traditional Vietnamese dishes. You can either order something from the menu or put on your plate whatever you like from the buffet. To drink, you can choose some bottled beverages of local brands or free lemon and cucumber water. If you want something sweet, you’ll also get it here - there’s a wide choice of delicious vegan cakes!

And what’s the best thing about buffet restaurants? End-of-the-day discount! Depending on the opening hours, the discount starts at different times, but it’s usually during the last one or two hours before closing.

This is a chain restaurant - for all locations and the menu, go there:

Eating in this restaurant, you will not only enjoy delicious vegan food, but also support local people in need. The place is putting into life a concept of socially engaged business and gives jobs and other support to people who experienced homelessness or spent time in prison.

In the menu, you will find mostly Czech cuisine - of course vegan. The restaurant also serves Czech beer, and the atmosphere is the closest it gets to the local pub feeling from all the vegan restaurants in Prague. So, if you want a local Czech experience, but without meat - this is the place to go.

This cute restaurant offers creative vegan dishes, beaming with colours, thanks to the variety of vegetables used. In addition to the fixed offer, on their daily menu, you will find a different soup and main dish every day.

During my first visit there, I ordered the dish of the day, which had a cauliflower as a base, even though I’m not a big fan of this vegetable - I was so surprised when I tasted it, it was the best cauliflower I have ever eaten!

Before leaving the restaurant, don’t forget to get one of their vegan cakes as a dessert and explore vegan groceries, which they also sell there.

Linh’s is my safe option for food delivery - if I can’t decide what I want, I take one of their vegan Vietnamese dishes and I’m always happy. The menu is huge though, you can choose from soups, noodles, sushi, and even burgers, including their one and only rice burger (with rice instead of buns, really!).

The location is great if you get hungry in the middle of exploring the Old Town. The restaurant is just a few minutes walking from the Old Town Square, but is luckily placed in a passage, which makes it hidden from the crowds of tourists.

I would recommend Palo Verde especially for their creative vegan breakfasts, like kimchi omelet or scrambled tofu, which tasted so egg-like that I wasn’t sure what I was eating (so if you’re a vegan missing eggs, it’s something for you!). Of course, you can also choose from a variety of vegan lunch and dinner meals.

The restaurant is not the cheapest (but also not super expensive, a bit over Prague average) and it’s often full, so making a reservation might be a good idea.

Maitrea is another restaurant that usually requires booking a table in advance. Situated very close from the Old Town Square, can be a nice ending to a day of walking around the center of Prague.

Similarly to Strecha, here, you can also enjoy vegan (and vegetarian) versions of traditional Czech dishes. Apart from these, the menu includes a mixture of Asian and Italian cuisine, and a few burgers.

Most of the tables are placed in the basement with very nice lighting, creating a romantic atmosphere - it’s a good place for a date, with a partner or with yourself.

I’m a big fan of the Brno branch of Forky’s - if you’re planning to visit the second biggest Czech city, definitely go eat there! However, the two Prague locations also offer super tasty food and a cozy atmosphere.

The menu is a mixture of everything - burgers, Asian flavors, Czech-inspired meals… Sometimes (in Brno - always) you can also find there vegan desserts and beverages of their own brand, for example, kombucha, which I like a lot.

It’s worth mentioning that one of the Prague restaurants is situated in the Holesovice district, which is a less touristy, but vibrant and definitely worth exploring area.

Let’s go back to the other side of the river and walk to Vinohrady - another less touristy part of Prague, which is a must see for someone who wants to experience more than the Old Town Square and Charles Bridge. On your walk around the lovely streets, full of beautifully-renovated old buildings, you’ll finally stumble upon a cute square (which is actually round) with a few restaurants. Among them - Blatouch.

I have to say it happened to me that I wasn’t satisfied with the experience in Blatouch - I had to wait a long time for the waitress and the food wasn’t as good as usually. However, all the other times I enjoyed it a lot. There are only a few dishes on the menu - if you’re not in the mood for one of their creative inventions, there are also burgers.

In Blatouch, you can also drink the beer named Blatouch - a perfect option especially for summer, when you can drink it at the table outside or take it “away” and sit in the middle of the square.

Dhaba Beas is a vegetarian buffet restaurant with clearly marked vegan options. You can put whatever you want on your plate (and trust me, you want to try many things there) and then pay according to the weight of the food.

As I recall, the restaurant used to offer mostly Indian cuisine, but now it’s more of a mix. There is still an Indian vibe - you’re going to eat on metal plates divided into a few sections, and you can definitely recognize Indian spices in various dishes. But often you can also find some Czech dumplings, sushi, or Vietnamese noodles. There is also a big offer of fresh vegetables.

Dhaba Beas is one of the cheaper options to eat in Prague, especially in the last hour of opening, when most of the branches offer a big discount. Moreover, there are many locations around the city, so you likely won’t have to go far to eat there.

Chinese dumplings might not be the obvious food option when you’re in Prague, but in case you’re in the mood for them, Dim Sum Spot is the place to go.

Keep in mind that they serve food for everyone, including meat-eaters, so if you want to eat in a fully meat-free place, it’s not the best option. Or, on the contrary, if you’re traveling with someone who wants to eat meat and you want to eat vegan, definitely go there.

The vegan selection is surprisingly big for a non fully vegan place. The descriptions of the dumplings fillings sound amazing, and, more importantly, the dumplings taste delicious! There is also a nice selection of drinks - from a refreshing pear lemonade to traditional Vietnamese tea.

Now, you don’t have to worry about finding vegan food in Prague. If you want to get more recommendations, explore our blog or book one of our photography services! See you in the Czech Republic!
